Ignorant beings cannot recognize the Great Souls – Adyathma Ramayana

by hinduparivar.org

Ignorant beings cannot recognize the Great Souls – Adyathma Ramayana Spiritually immature beings cannot make out the devotional deeds of incarnates and hence they always misunderstand them. For an instance, the context of the termination of Bali, the brother of Sugreeva, by Sri Rama in Ramayana is being misinterpreted by many as Sri Rama attacked and killed him by hiding behind the trees. The righteousness of this context can be made out through the following sequential events of Bali and Sugreeva. In Kishkindha Kanda of Adyatma Ramayana, Sri Hanuman, the minister of Kishkindha guided Sri Rama & Lakshmana to Sugreeva who was the king of Kishkindha and had been expelled by his brother Bali, to get help in search of Seetha Devi who had been kidnapped by the demon king Ravana. Sugreeva demanded Sri Rama to help him in defeating his brother Bali who became his enemy due to some misunderstanding, as a requital of obligation. Bali & Sugreeva are the sons of Lord Indra & Surya respectively of single mother and born as monkeys in Kishkindha. As Bali was the elder brother he became the king and Sugreeva honestly supporting him in the ruling affairs. Bali married Tara and Sugrerva marrird Ruma and were leading a happy life. Meanwhile one demon named Maayavi entered into the country and called Bali for duel. Bali was too proud of his power as he gained a boon from his grand father Lord Brahma that he would be additionally acquired the half more power of his enemy's when he fights with them and hence he started to attack the demon. Maayavi scared and ran into a cave and Bali told Sugreeva before entering into the cave that if milk flows out from the cave consider that the demon is dead or the blood comes out just close the entrance with a heavy stone and take over his charges as king and rule the country. The fight started and goes on a month of time and there was no sign of an end. But one day blood flew out from the cave and Sugreeva confirmed it as the death of his brother and closed the cave with a heavy stone and took over the charge of Kishkinda. But it was the tricky game of Maayavi to cheat Bali, so he simulated the blood flow in between the fight to confuse Sugreeva. Bali came out from the cave after terminating the demon and misunderstood his brother and seized the kingdom from Sugreeva and kept his wife, Ruma with him by force. Sugreeva escaped to the near Hermitage and mountain area where Bali cannot enter due to the curse of a monk. Sugreeva knows very well that he can never directly defeat Bali. Bali was one of the powerful warriors in the world and he even once trapped Ravana under his arm pit until he finishes his evening prayer and Ravana accepted his failure and became the friend of Bali. So, Bali promised Ravana that he will help him as and when he requires. Sugreeva was so sure that he cannot defeat his brother and hence he decided to take help from Sri Rama to defeat Bali. Sri Rama released his arrow to kill Bali by hiding behind a tree and the arrow penetrated on the chest of Bali and fell down. Before his death, Bali asked Sri Rama that as a great virtuous warrior and leader why he attacked him from behind. If Sri Rama wanted to save Seetha Devi he could have asked him to do the same instead of defeating through cheating. Sri Rama had given him the spiritual advice to clear off all his ignorance and Bali realized his mistakes and attained the salvation earlier than Sugreeva. Sri Rama did not directly attack Bali due to the following reasons, Bali was not yet reached even to the stage of human birth and hence his thoughts and actions were reflected of a normal monkey. He kidnapped the wife of his own brother that was totally an unrighteous action. As per the boon of Lord Brahma if Sri Rama fights with Bali his power will also share to Bali and hence defeating Bali was an impossible task. Bali had promised Ravana once that he will help him as and when it requires. So Bali can never help Sri Rama in defeating Ravana. So to retain the righteousness or protect the world Sri Rama had to terminate the demon king Ravana.
