Importance of Dhaksinavruta Shankam and Namaskar Format to Please God mportance of Dhaksinavruta Shankam We pray lord Vishnu as “Megha shyamam pethakosiyavasam srivatsangam kosubodhbasitangam”. Our sastras say dhaksinavruta shankam (shell) is very sacred. Whenever we use that shell in our temple room, it should not be submersed in ordinary water. We should pour sacred waters like Ganga, Yamuna, Narmada, Tungabadra, Saraswati, Krishna and Kaveri river water. Upon storing sacred waters, if we apply sandal wood, kumkam and flowers to the shell and pray to it we will be blessed with Lord Vishnu. Also whoever consumes sacred water as thirdham everyday they will be blessed with health and wealth. That is why we find priests offering thirdham in shells.
